Are those hours wrong? Maybe I was looking at the Saturday hours of operation? The on-line info says Sunday hours are 1000-1800. Argh...

Another Commissary Rant! - 6 hours ago by Cookie - Reply

Myself and seven other people arrived at 7:34 tonight to find the commissary closed. The sign reads Sunday hours 0900-2000. Did we all miss something?

Is there some reason myself and seven other people arrived at 7:34 tonight to find the commissary closed? Sign reads Sunday hours 0900-2000.

I cant wait for the day that checks become obsolete... nothing worse than being in line with someone writing a check. Especially when they dont start writing until after every thing is bagged!

are you kidding me? - 8 hours ago by indymom - Reply

I don't think Fisher Price even makes this anymore. I looked on Amazon and it sells for 224. I think we paid 90 for the barn one. I still wouldn't pay 65 for it used. Maybe 25.

I've noticed there always seems to be expired yogurt. I buy the Yoplait lite and I ususally have to dig through all of the expired ones to find good ones.

A Free Day at the Zoo - 1 days ago by are we done yet - Reply

My daughter is 5 almost 6 and when we went back in april the museum also freaked her out too. she didnt like the little indian people talking. lol. I didnt mind that zoo but i like topekas better. And i actually like wichitas even better but 2 hrs is a little far just to go to zoo. Only reason why i went to wichita zoo is because i picked up a soldiers wife from the airport and she flew in at noon. She goes hey lets make a day out of this and go to the zoo instead of coming and picking me up and going straight back.

There was a flea market going on too.

A Free Day at the Zoo - 1 days ago by Ashlina - Reply

We also went today, and were there right when they opened. My boys had fun, so it was a good surprise.
Also we saw a huge snake (wild, not an exhibit) when we were walking up the path from the capuchin monkey island. Like, uncomfortably large. And I couldn't tell what kind it was. No workers to be found to tell about it either.
It was an okay zoo. I've been spoiled by other ones I've been to, though. Just really glad the boys had a good time. Nice distraction from daddy being gone, plus it was free. :)

Anyone happen to see the one that happen in JC today?

A Free Day at the Zoo - 1 days ago by toriT - Reply

We went (it was our first time) and my hubs kept saying it was just another zoo, but I was really impressed! Maybe it's just because we took our 3 year old to the Manhattan zoo right after we moved here and that place was just depressing.
The museum freaked our daughter our daughter out though. We'll stick to the animals that are still alive next time! ;)

Lord, its never going to stop... - 2 days ago by Tee C - Reply

If I ran any kind of organization that sold pets (shelter, breeder, anything like that) there would be such an extensive application process, most people would probably give up halfway through.
I'm talking questions like
"how many pets have you had"
"how much do you make and can you afford vet visits, food, care"
"has every single person in your immediate family been tested for allergies to animals"
"do you anticipate moving in the next year and will you be able to afford to take your pet with you"

That's funny you say that; Project Pet in South Carolina operates that way, lol.

We got our first cat from Project Pet; we had to prove we could afford to care for her and tell them what vet we planned to take her to. They also required you to bring a kennel to transport the animal and if you didn't have one, you had to purchase one before you could take them home. A lot of people give up and choose not to adopt from them, lol.

Questioned had me stumped - 2 days ago by Cookie - Reply

Oh, thanks. I was reading the page and I saw the info on how the electronic check processing system works; which, I always thought was simply to verify the funds were in your account. I never did get how my old neighbor navigated that whole system to get her through paydays.

Questioned had me stumped - 2 days ago by Ashlina - Reply

Commissary Website Methods of payment FAQ.
It just states that they accept Personal Checks, not whether they accept out of state or not. BUT the military being what it is, I wouldn't understand why they wouldn't take an out of state check.

Questioned had me stumped - 2 days ago by Cookie - Reply

Sponsoring new folks who done stumped me with a question, LOL. Does Deca here take out of state checks? I have no clue, as I only use my debit card.

Phentermine?? - 2 days ago by Ashlina - Reply

I'm on phentermine now. I need to make better nutritional choices (when the husband isn't around I go for the easy meal which is usually bad for you) and I'm easing into exercise again (mowed the lawn today) so that will help. I switched from regular soda to coke zero and lost seven pounds in January. Since I started taking the phentermine I lost five pounds and it makes my mouth dry so I drink a lot of water now. I should drink more though.
I have actually regulated my sleep with phentermine, which I thought would have me up all night. Even if I stay up a little later than I should, I wake up easily earlier in the morning. I've been quite nauseated though, but that's easing as my body is getting used to the drug. I'm hoping Dr. Gooch likes the little bit of progress I'm making and keeps me on it. I think it will be a big help to me. It's really getting me moving and I don't want to eat very often.

Military Family Visits (I Have to Vent) - 2 days ago by Ashlina - Reply

I like roadtripping, so I guess I was blind to it. I flew home from Italy once and stayed at Fort Belvoir with my mom and dad, drove to Bragg to see my inlaws, went to WV to see my family dotted all over, spent time in Pennsylvania...and then flew back to Italy to meet the hubby when he got back from Afghanistan only to fly back and do NC and Fort Belvoir again before returning BACK to Italy.
I'm actually glad we're in Kansas now. I'm not going to see a single person. NOT happening.

Military Family Visits (I Have to Vent) - 2 days ago by Ashlina - Reply

Oh my gosh I didn't quite realize it but that's totally true! Everytime I've ever come home from anywhere all of a sudden everyone wants me to run all over the place to visit them. But you can't come see me, or even write a letter?
As an Army brat, I can count on one hand how many times our family came to us. We drove from Alabama or Indiana or NC or Missouri to West Virginia 99% of Christmases - and we had to split the time between my two sets of Grandparents.
While I was in the Army, same deal.
My inlaws and my parents both came to see us when we were living in Italy. My inlaws because they'd been stationed there before, and my parents spent most of their visit (seeing me and the boys after my youngest was born) going on the bus trips to Florence and other places I hadn't ever been able to get to.
My sister in law is the WORST at this. She gets so butthurt if we come to visit and don't see her, even if we drove 11 hours when she would only have to drive 2 hours max to meet us at her parents.

I went to the Fort Riley Network Meeting once. The head guy at the commissary was there, and he mentioned that he watches Riley underground. So, I bet your complaints aren't going to be a surprise to him.

Hopefully, he will get them resolved.
