Anyone ever had CID knock at your door investigating a child abuse report? It's pretty freaky, had them here last night, I thought I was in trouble because all of the invasive questions. Just curious.

♥Jennie♥ --- 212 days ago -

Not here, but that would make me twitch too. The closest I have had to anything like that didn't even happen to me, but a gf of mine. CID was investigating her (now ex) husband for child pornography. I sat with her the whole time they searched her apartment and asked her some really detailed personal questions. Definitely something that would freak me out a bit too.

Laura --- 212 days ago -

It scared the crap out of me, those people are VERY intimidating.

It scared the crap out of me, those people are VERY intimidating. Yes they are, and they don't leave any stone unturned with their questioning either.

Natalie --- 212 days ago -

CID woke me up early on a Saturday morning a couple months ago asking if I had heard anything during the night (which I had not). I had to answer all of their questions but they wouldn't even give me the slightest hint as to what had happened next door to warrant the questions in the first place!

Laura yes CID does investigate child abuse.... About a month ago, my daughter had a bruise on her face, then her arm, so i got a phone call saying my daughter was at the hospital and i had to go immediately. I go to find out that they were investigating me for child abuse!!! I was pissed and scared i dont beat my children by any means, but still i was being investigates. I was investigated by MPS, CID, Family Services and finally was told that the allegations were unfounded. Well my daughter still continues to get bruises and the nurse who i adore... (sarcastic tone) continues to pull my daughter out of class to tell her that if she doesnt feel safe at home she can go to her.... My daughter told her no thanks im fine, but i got tired of it so i scheduled a doc appt and had blood work done, turns out that my daughter has a vitmain K deficiency, ( hemophilia) which causes her bruising. I went to the school and turned in my report for the doctor and all the info they gave and that dumb ...... ( fill in the blank) said well arent you happy you found out? I was so pissed by this statement!!! What yes im glad i know why my daughter bruises am i happy about how i had to find out?? HELL NO!!! I have never been so embarrassed and so pissed at the same time. It was like no matter what i said i still looked guilty. Im just happy that i have every thing documented in case this nurse gets another bug up her a$$ i can show CID and i wont have to go thru their questioning again. BTW the bruise on my daughters face, the doctor said i would of had to Karate chop her to create the bruise, and the one on her arm was triangular, so hell i dont know how she gets them she just gets them, to me kids are kids they fight with their siblings they climb trees for goodness sake my children try to find things to slide down my stairs on... I wish they would investigate the kids that have obviouse handprints or obviously are neglected, instead of just going of what a school nurse has to say!

Angie - I bruise easily too - I'm anemic and on blood thinners b/c of a clotting disorder I have. I always get questioned from the nurses/doctors about my bruises (and they KNOW about my conditions b/c it's all documented in my chart and they know the medications I take for it). I'm just waiting for the day that they try to "report" him for abusing me when it's a medical problem (well problemS) that I have! If I have to hear them ask me one more time "do you feel safe at home with your husband?" I'm going to smack someone so THEY get a bruise! It's beyond aggravating!

~@ngi3~ --- 212 days ago -

I know it drives me crazy!!! I always knew my daughter was anemic so when she got a bruise i just pushed it off on that, i would of never thought i would be getting that call....Im not saying my kids dont get spanked because they do, but i dont beat them.... My son goes tot hat school too and he has never been pulled out of class. So i was just like why dont you ask my other child why not just talk to my daughter? If you ask my kids if i beat them they say yes, next obvious question is where does mommy hit you, my kids point to their butts, and when they are in trouble and yell at them to come here, they dont cover their faces they cover their butts.... I jsut dont understand it, it makes me think about when i was a kid.. Why wasnt Child services calle don my parents??? lol not saying i wanted it to but they did a lot more than i have ever done!!! Makes me sad that i feel like i have to watch my back constantly.... However, CID did tell me the kansas laws of spanking in case any one wants to know........ You can smack them in the face as long as no mark is left, you can hit them and leave a mark on their butt as long as it obvious that it was a hand and not an object, then you can spank them up to five times, per punishment....

I hate that crap. And this is why I quit doing parents as teachers. this snatch decided to call on me like 3 years ago, because my son was in his diaper in the high chair and had cheerio's all over him. So, I was sitting on the portch one day and they pulled up into my drive way (mp's) not CID and they where like, hey... we got a call about child neglect! I was like HUH WHAT!!! WHERE? I was freakin' the fk out! They wanted to come in and I told them no, not till my husband gets here!! So they sat outside until he got here. While I called him crying freakin out... I didn't know what to do. Then the lady from CID came in, and reported her "findings" and this is what she told me -Your razer is down, and that needs to be put up before one of the kids gets to it.. (okay I can kinda see this one but my kids KNOW better to not play with stuff like that, and my son wasn't even walking yet!!) -Your not allowed to have laundry on your couch... it needs to be folded and put away... HAHA b!tch what?! -and THAT WAS IT!! It was just stuff like that, and it PISSED ME OFF!! I was so mad I couldn't even talk I was just crying on the couch because I was soooo scared they where going to take my kids away. After the next "visit" they told me who it was that called on me...and well.. I ripped that wench a new a.. hole lol.. I was so ticked off.. The thing that got me was I had some lady for about a year and a half working with my daughter, and she was from Germany, she saw my house at its best and at its worst and she NEVER said anything at all.. Then when she moved I got this new lady, who was really nice at first, and pretended to be my friend, but then apparently she saw something that she didn't agree with and decided it was time to call the Mp's on me. Its BS how some people are. I told her HOW THE he*ll can you pretend to be someones friend and then just go ahead and turn them in for something. The least she could have done was just say hey, this doesn't look right. I would have explained it, I don't understand why they have to get nosey and into peoples business. To this day I am very wary about who I let in my house, because I lost trust with people in general. I still too this day think it was cause he was in the highchair and he had just woken up and was eatin his cheerio's and makin a mess with his juice with it lol. And for real thats ALL that it could have been I didn't understand it at all. Also Pircerne came by and they where like.. wow I don't know why they would have said anything! I was sooooooo ticked off.. And another thing, the lady who lived next door to me at the time's house was Effing discusting. I wanted so bad to tell them to just GO next door, LOL I really thought they had the WRONG house!!!

I wish they would investigate the kids that have obviouse handprints or obviously are neglected, instead of just going of what a school nurse has to say! Angi I understand how you feel but you have to be glad someone was watching out. What if it was a child that was being abused and she did this, then one more child would have been saved from being beaten. It is a hard thing to work with kids everyday and they say something or you see something and you have to report it. I have had to report to CID and MPS what a child said about a parent. Not a good feeling at all.

~@ngi3~ --- 212 days ago -

Well Rhonda, when i am already investigated and its proven that i didnt beat my children, and i speak witht eh principal of the school about the situation and the woman still pulls my child outher class to "make sure she is safe" Im allowed to get mad, they hould move on to another child to save the world!

Proud Cav. Wife --- 212 days ago -

I know at IACH it is required for them to ask you if you feel safe at home. I thought it was annoying at first, and finally I said "Is there something about me, or myself that makes you think that there is a reason I shouldn't?" The nurse said its a requirement so that sort of explains that. The thing about schools, Day-cares, and tons of other professions is that they are mandated reporters. If someone in those jobs that are mandated dosen't report that they suspected the child abuse and something happens to that child they can face punishment as well. So as far as the nurse goes, I can see how she would continue to call. HOWEVER I think if I were that nurse and you'd been to the school, investigated and whatnot I would suggest the Dr's. Once you had the documentation then obviously I would drop it. I can see why she would have started the process to begin with, but like I said I would have stopped once it was clear the child has a medical condition. I agree that CID is intimidating, even for routine things they are incredibly intimidating. I had a neighbor who was in trouble for a handful of things and since we'd called the MP's for the child neglect we got to talk to them. We didn't even do anything and I was scared. Although I will say, as long as you didn't do anything wrong you are good to go.

~*BrinA*~ --- 212 days ago -

Yeah nothing came from our situation either.. it was just part of the ladies job, and I can understand that, but whe she did that, she put my husbands promotion on hold for a few more months and it just Made Me mad! And since I didn't do anything wrong it was even worse.. So, I think we where even, it just sucked! And I know once allegations are made they are NOT allowed to just ignore them. And it is GREAT that they do. But once the issue has been resolved, the issue still shouldn't be pressed. Not to mention, even when the alligations are false, people who aren't on the "inner circle" of what is going on will still look at you like you are an idiot! Not that it matters to care about what people think.. but when it comes to child abuse, being put thru the whole sphiele with the cops and CID and the councelors it really puts a damper on people you can trust. And we all know how roumors get started on an army base!

Laura --- 210 days ago -

Thanks everyone. I thought I was alone.

*SoCal Princess* --- 210 days ago -

cid investigated me a few years back. gotta love drama lovin, gossiping chicks. they said i gave one of their kids little blue pills. the only little blue pill i know of is viagra. and ummm no need for that here. they dropped the case but it was funny yet scary.

daisy_petals2000 --- 210 days ago -

holy cow! who is turning you guys in? i have a neighbor who has been reported to the MPs like 3x for throwing her little 2 and 4 year old outside to play in the street. nothing happened to her. i caught the 15mo old outside alone beating on the door trying to get back into the house... nothing happened about that either. it concerns me that actual child neglect cases get ignored and everyday life gets turned in as abuse. what is wrong with the world today... ~Amy

the nurse who i adore... (sarcastic tone) is this the Jefferson Elementry nurse??? I had to go up to my daughters school the other for something like this...She had a bruise on her face...well, they had to report it and then I got the call..when I got to the school..I got "those" looks from the front office...my daughter trips over her own feet, she will get up and tell you she is ok...anywho...after talking to them they realized there was no case there...But, they did tell me that they could have taken her to the hospital to be examined if they felt that she was abused...it was pretty intimidating...

~*BrinA*~ --- 209 days ago -

is this the Jefferson Elementry nurse??? yes!!!!!!!!

~@ngi3~ --- 209 days ago -

Yes thats where it was at.... I get tired of it.. and now that i finally have all the info turned in and threats of calling the school board about harrassment, things are just fine now :D

christina --- 209 days ago -

Yeah, I don't like her..My daughters teachers where like, we really do not need to call the cops...but the nurse pushed for it...So, yeah..I have no hard feeling toward her teachers..but the nurse..I do not like...

daisy_petals2000 --- 209 days ago -

wow... i guess i am fortunate bradley goes to ware... that kid self inflicts injury on himself (he has autism and when he gets mad he scratches and bites himself... bangs his head etc). I do have to restrain him at times to take meds or keep him from hurting himself or others... maybe that is why they don't say anything though - because of his mental "issues"... scary all together...

Proud Cav. Wife --- 209 days ago -

I have been debating homeschool because of things like this, as well as bullies and general violence. My husband thinks I am overprotective but I don't want to worry if my son does something silly and gets a strange cut/scrape that I'm going to get into trouble. I think this nurse is taking it a bit far, I understand she is a mandated reporter but the injury has to be more than a normal childhood injury. I mean I didn't see your children so maybe they did or didn't look like abuse but at some point you also have to understand that kids are fearless, clumsy and active.

christina --- 209 days ago -

wow... i guess i am fortunate bradley goes to ware... I can't wait for my daughter to go there.I wish they had the program she is in there.... You know when you don't cut your child's nails and they can scratch their faces? well, she had a tiny little scratch under her eye and they even asked me about that...I mean come on..really?

FortRileyMom3 --- 209 days ago -

You know when you don't cut your child's nails and they can scratch their faces? well, she had a tiny little scratch under her eye and they even asked me about that...I mean come on..really? I only had that happen when they were babies. When mine were little and their nails were long they would tell me mom, my nails are long will you cut them for me.

donna --- 209 days ago -

I can't believe all this. We had a preteen girl run away with her little sister because the stepmom was literally beating and straving them to death while the father was deployed. I tried to help by getting our county police to turn them over to SRS. Instead they called the MPs who came and got the kids and returned them to the mother. I had SRS and everyone in the brother involved because the Herington Chief of Police at the time didn't think it was any of our business and it happened in another county even though she ended up in our county. There are too many law enforcement officer who have no idea what the actual laws are in regards to children. I think I read somewhere that someone said that spanking was okay in Kansas. Well you must live in a different Kansas then I do. You spank your child and they call SRS on you or someone else, you are going to court and be investigated. There is no magic number of times that you can spank a child. If you have know or think that a child is being neglected or abused and you don't get the help that you need from the law enforcement agencies that are investigating, you can always file a ICE complaint regarding your concern for the safety of the child(ren).

~*BrinA*~ --- 209 days ago -

Parenting rights are God given, They are also protected by the First, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendments to the Constitution. No state can tell a parent how to handle their children. And if a parent decides its right to spank their children. There is nothing the state or CPS can do about it. As long as the punishment isn't leaving welts or bruises there shouln't be a concern. If I spank my kids, it shouldn't leave any marks. The buttocks can take it. So I don't know what "kansas" you are livning in, but this is America and no one can tell me I am not allowed to disipline my kids in this mannor. You can research Kansas, there is a county here that still allows corpral punishment in schools. Thats where the teachers can spank kids here is an article : http://primebuzz.kcstar.com/?q=node/649

There is a lot I want to say on this subject but I wont because I will end up pissing some of you off. I just want to say that what something looks like to you may not be what it looks like to others.

christina --- 209 days ago -

I only had that happen when they were babies. When mine were little and their nails were long they would tell me mom, my nails are long will you cut them for me. awesome...wish mine would.

*SoCal Princess* --- 208 days ago -

well not to be a sour apple, but dude, i have said it time and time again...spank if u need to. dont beat ur kids. but u know as a parent what needs to be done. and if people r on the outside looking into the situation, well thats their problem. that goes wit hthe mind ur own business thing. my 3 year old likes to ride bikes down the stairs and all sorts of stuff. heck she ran into the shelf at a store the other day. i laughed because it was funny but she was hurt so i stopped. but people see and assume what they want and dont know facts. maybe some need to go back to school where they taught what assuming is.

FortRileyMom3 --- 208 days ago -

Unless you have ever been in a position of having to report a case or not you know the struggle some people face doing it. I have had report a few cases and it wasnt something I wanted to do, because I wasnt quite sure if it was the truth or not (knowing how kids exaggerate) but they told me so I had to report it. In my mind I knew that if it was or wasnt substaniated I/the school would be looked upon as the bad guys because the whole story couldnt be put out there. So, I understand the busybody individual that just want to stir crap but I also understand the person that something is told to and under the obligation of their job they have to report it.
