OK, so I have a great white Crib that converts to a toddler bed, all I have to do is take off one side rail and replace with the toddler rail. But I was wondering, should I just sell my crib and buy a toddler bed? I know that later down the road the crib will also convert to a head and foot board for a full size bed.....what do you all think?

~@ngi3~ --- 212 days ago -

i would just continue to use the crib. theres no reason to spend money if u dont need to ya know

Yea, I know but im and idiot lol and I love to spend money.....its my downfall :) It would make my husband happy though! Im trying to talk myself into keeping it.....its hard though.

well maybe, this is just an idea, you can talk to someone who has a bed you like and maybe they need a crib,so instead of buying one, you can trade.....

Yea I was thinking that too....Id like to get a white toddler bed cause all my girls furniture is white and my oldest daughters twin bed is white.

Paint! You can change anything with a little paint and creativeness...and I know you have alot! I used my sons bed (he is almost 9) in every transformation he had, from crib, to toddler, and now he is in a full size bed. It has saved me sooo much money! and all you need is a little change, to satisfy the urge to buy a new one...paint, some stencils, and a little hard work will have a great outcome. It did for me!

I had the converntable crib and changed it to a toddler bed for my son but he didn't like it because the crib mattress is not comfortable at all to him. We ended up buying a new bed for him from Ashley's and getting rid of his crib

I've never changed mine to the toddler bed, obviously, but the whole reason that we picked ours out is so we'd only ever have to buy matress's. Maybe you could try it out as the toddler bed and if your child dosen't like it or something you can do what Danielle did. You can always paint yours if that's the issue, I mean it would be a bit of work (You have to sand, paint, ect.) but you would always have the satisfaction of knowing you did it?

So UPDATE! I did sell Rylees Crib (I know! Im hard headed!) and we are re-doing her room in dora....she turns 2 next month so this is her bday surprise...she is OBSESSED with Dora and she will be so excited I got a Dora Toddler bed, 4 piece bed set, Dora table and stools and Dora Toy organizer for 125.00....pretty good deal!

♥LilMrsNelson♥ --- 202 days ago -

Oh and I sold our crib for 75.00 so in reality I spent 50.00 for her new bedroom

i had one of those jenny lind cribs and to convert it it would have costed me eighty more dollars so i sold mine but to be honest those toddler beds dont last them too long either

okay... if you really want something different why not just go with a twin size bed? that is what i did with hannah... she went straight from a crib to a twin size. if you aren't ready for a twin size - i would just stick with the crib toddler bed... it is just my opinion, but i think toddler beds are a waste of money... they can only stay in them for a short peroid of time.

lol... i guess i should read the entire thread before posting. lol. i can't wait to see the dora room! :)

well Rylee is super small for her age (she is almost 2 and weighs 18 lbs) so I think she will stay in it for a while, besides Charleigh has a twin, so when Rylee grows out of the toddler bed, she can have the twin bed and Char will get a full size bed.

Goodness you have a small girl! As long as she's healthy that's all you could ask for. My 1yr old weighs 24lbs LOL.

♥LilMrsNelson♥ --- 202 days ago -

Yea she was a preimie! I dont know how she is so little she eats ALL THE TIME lol....But my 3 yr old is tall an skinny she is 28 lbs and she is 3yrs and 4 mo old.

Michelle --- 202 days ago -

wow what a little petite thing. my son turns two this month and weighs 28 pounds. but he is really tall and lean. cant really see the weight on him. lol. we just put him in his toddler bed for the first time last night. we opted to get a toddler bed and just save or crib for the next kid. we did his because we wanted him to have a new big boy bed and not just his ole crib. more like making it a special ocasion for him. we only paid 25 for it off of rileyyardsales so i dont really see it as a waste of money. and then when he is done with it ill prob sell for 15. lol.

♥LilMrsNelson♥ --- 202 days ago -

Yea, I thought hey Since I sold the crib for 75, I will only be paying 50.00 for all of it....cant beat that!

keri --- 202 days ago -
