I still have 4 months till my son's 1st birthday but I honestly have no idea what to do for it. I know its still a ways off but I have to start saving for it now. Any suggestions or ideas would be amazing! Thanks ladies! 

we just had a small gathering because since they dont realize whats going on its just mainly entertainment for the adults because its really fun to watch a 1 yr old tear into a cake hehe 

Do you want to do a bbq or something similar? Being that it will be warmer, you can do it at the park and do it bbq style...Park = entertainment for the kids. Also being that it is a 1st bday, do you have a theme in mind? K's was Blue Clue's--her fav at the time, M had a very low key one, we had just moved to Germany at the time...now N, yea her's was a big party. It was themed Spongebob, with bubbles, a bbq/dinner, cake/cupcakes, pinata--covered the need for goodie bags, lol, wading pool. With N's party, daddy wasn't there either, so he participated via webcam...it ended up being a BIG party, lol. 

I had my daughter's first birthday at the salina zoo. everyone had to pay their own way in but there's a picnic area and we had cake and the kids got to play on the small park. It was something fun and simple and inexpensive but that just depends on if your guests would want to pay their own way into the zoo. 

I had a small get together when my son turned one...It was nice...not sure what to suggest..he didn't realy know what was going on..but, I agree with Ugly_hick (lol..name cracks me up) the best part was him tearing into his cake.. :P 

Charleigh's first birthday I had at the preschool i used to work at, so the tables were small and we could play on the outdoor equipment. Rylees first birthday we did at home, just a small burgers and brats party. Since his will be in the summer you could do the BBQ and a wading pool, or get one of those fun blow up pools with slides and stuff, they have some really neat ones and they arent deep. I love kids parties. Rylee 2nd birthday is in march, :( we are doing a cupcake party and all the kids can decorate their own cupcake. Since I have girls I make them a tutu to match their bday colors and a personalized t-shirt with a fun design on the front and on the back I put their name and age. 

Thanks guys that gives me some great idea. I love the cupcake thing you are doing that is going to be a hit I wish Walter could do that I will have to keep that in mind for next year 

:) I love planning birthday parties, Charleigh's 2nd birthday was Chuck E Cheese in topeka, Her 3rd was at gymnastics plus in manhattan, I usually spend 300+ just on the party and not including presents....My Hubby gets on me about spending to much money for birthdays cause I usally spend 100 + dollars on an extreme cake, lots of decorations and presents then renting a place....so this birthday Im trying hard to keep it simple and budget worthy lol! 

Im all about the memory's being made, and i tried to use that to reason with him but he wasnt buying it lmao! 

we are in the same boat! Nate is always getting on to me for that kind of stuff! 

yea, Im trying really hard to make this a cheap, good birthday....but I have a feeling somethings gotta give lol, CHRIS told me i was crazy about my idea last night. lol Big top cupcakes for all.....I guess Ill have to settle for regular cupcakes.....I was going to ask sondra to give me cute Ideas to decorate Rylees Big top Birthday cupcake!

RHIANNA!!!! don't spend $100 on cake! i took all the wilton classes and know how to do all that stuff... next bday let me know what you want and i will make it for ya - just buy the materials! lol. Alexandria - that offer goes for you as well. my hubby will be leaving for iraq soon and i will be looking for "busy" projects. :) i can send ya a few of my kids' bday cakes over the past few years if you need some ideas... ~Amy 

Amy, I am hitting you and Sondra up for this then...I know Sondra can do cakes too. So prepare---August and October are my bday months...other than my own in July, which I do my own thing for (lol, I like themes), I'll just ask you to do my cake, lol. 

yay! :) i love making cakes. i am actually going to do my own version of classes here at my house in a few weeks just for fun -i have a couple friends who wanna learn and don't necessarily have baby sitters to go to hobby lobby... anyone who wants in i have a few more seats at my table... i am not charging or anything ~ just conveying knowledge 

I wanna learn too....For Rylees Bday March 13th I am making a big top cupcake for her cupcake party but have no clue on how to decorate it lol

For mine's first birthday we just had friends and family over.. there wre decorations but not a whole lot and cake. She didnt really know what was going on so it wasnt some extravagant gathering or anything.
