Anyone putting their kids in soccer? I just signed my daughter up and i know shes gonna have a ball, but i am having the worst luck trying to find any gear that will fit her. any suggstions? 

I signed my daughter up but she also played in the fall. My daughter is small and I went to Hibbett and I bought the smallest size shorts that I could find and they were still big on her but all the other kids on the team looked the same. I would check them out. 

i went to hibbet today, and the problem with my daughter is that she is very tall for her age.. Skinny as a rail and tall as sin.... plus she wears a size 4 in shoes, so im trying to find her cleats and shin garuds

cool, My hubby runs the soccer program in manhattan :) 

I had to get boy stuff for my daughter for the fall. I was able to get some tops from Target in the girls dept but the shorts and cleats are boys. I don't know if that helps. 

Manhattan running company has soccer stuff for kids.

I wanted to play soccer when i was in highschool until i watched them practice and watched them run laps for like hours...haha i was like i will die of exhaustion trying to keep up with them with my short legs! I cant wait to get my kids signed up for that kind of stuff!

Where did you go to sign her up for soccer? I missed signs ups last year for my daughter by 2 days I can't miss it this year she will kill me! 

You have to go the CYS on Normandy not too far from the old px. 

make sure you have a physical, shot records and les, and deployment papers if he is deployed..

as long as the one from last year is after may... and they do walk ins from 8-11 mon - thur.... i would just go in with everything and see what they say, if nothing else they will give you till the time the sport starts to get the physical

My daughter has been bugging me to play soccer. Ive been trying to talk her into basketball or softball with no luck. I don't know anything about soccer lol. Ive been debating on whether or not to put her in this year, she just turned 5. How old were yours when they started, is that too young?? 

My daughter is 5 and she loved it. Our coach has a 4 year old daughter that played and she did good. 

I began playing when i was 3 years old, but that was up in new york... Here at least on ft. riley they at least have to be in K to play... 

That stinks, she's only in PreK. Maybe I can get her in off post.

I was just wondering where the best and cheapest places are around JC and Manhattan to get kids soccer cleats, shin guards? Also what kind of shorts do they need to play on post? I am a first time soccer mom so am so confused and want to buy the right stuff. Any advice would be so helpful. Thanks a bunch! 

FYI: just saw in the the Manhattan Walmart clearance aisle nice soccer short for about $6. They are on the bottom shelf and come in small boxes (similar to playtex bra boxes) 

I am signing my daughter up for the JC YMCA group. There there is a group for 4-5yr olds. and a K group. No physicals from what the paper said.
