So, we had a horrible experience with Wilson Motors in Junction City. They had a car we went to look at on saturday, he said he would have to get it into the muffler shop today, monday, to make sure nothing serious was wrong with it, so we wanted him to contact us today after that was done. My husband calls at noon today to be told that they weren't able to get it into the shop today but they're getting lots of offers so if we want it we need to come get it. We go there, we're filling out the paperwork and everything, then a lady walks in with a hand full of cash. Turns out she had already put a down-payment on the vehicle and was coming to purchase it! We were never told someone had put a down-payment on it or anything, we were filling out the paperwork to purchase the vehicle! He sold it right in front of us to this lady. I will never do business with this dealership ever again.

I just wanted to let everyone know how sheisty this place is. I was pretty heartbroken but then happy, I don't want to give someone like that my business. 

That is the same owner of Woody's bar in town...just FYI. Also I think a car buisness is all about money talks BS walks...just saying.

That was still wrong, he should have told us that someone had put a deposit on it rather than just sell the car right in front of us. 

I agree, some people just don't have morals now and days.

we bought our durango from academy cars in lawrence... it was totally worth the drive. we have had it a year and a half and have had absolutely no issues with it. :) 

Everything happens for a reason, and every car I've been screwed out of turned out to be a blessing because I later found something that was much more worth my money. 

Im sorry that happened to you, but they are a small car dealership and money does talk. We bought a vehicle from them and talked them down to a little over 2500 off the asking price cause we had the cash in hand. We had a great experience there and would go back if we had to. They have a pretty good 90 day warranty for a small dealer too. Maybe ya got them on a bad day. Sorry again it happened!

Would you honestly go back to someone who did the same thing to you? I won't ever go back there.

We have upped our price and we're working with another local dealership right now, we're waiting to hear from them today because the car we're interested in needs to be inspected. I forget the name of it. Something suzuki in JC I think. 

I have heard good thing about them. But don't go to briggs, they would rip you off! Their prices are supper high! No I wouldn't go back to someone that wronged me. I was just putting it out there that they are not all bad. Hope you get a great deal on what you are wanting. good luck! 

My uncle owns a car lot in Manhattan. He is a small dealer that has been in business for over 40 years either in JC or later in Manhattan. I know he is on Tuttle Creek Blouvard just before you get to Vista Drive-in and by one of the hotels. It is on the west side of the road (can't be on the other side-drop off). I know he has reasonably priced vehicles and has been in business forever. You might want to give him a try. Couldn't have stayed in business this long without doing some good business. I usually buy my vehicles from individuals. Last one was off RYS--95 GEO for $775. Yes, that is right and it runs great. Love the car. But I have bought from my uncle in the past and the car was great. Check with your local chamber of commerce as to their recommended auto dealers or at least the black-balled ones. 

We've actually gone through Briggs for our truck and we got a great deal. Used 2008 Ford F-150 for $15,000, but we're looking for something cheap because obviously we can't afford another payment like we're making on our truck.

I don't trust car dealers...and the only one I'd ever recommend is Manhattan MOtors...great reputation, honest people. Just don't expect to haggle the price. His policy is to offer a fair price (usually lower than most other places), and that's it. But he won't shaft u with a messed up car that will have tons of issues later.
On another note, I'd say you were fortunate the car got sold from under you. The whole "lots of people r interested,get it fast" is the oldest sales trick ever. Especially if the car needed to be looked at, they probably just wanted you to buy it b4 having to admit something was wrong w/ it.
