Just curious, for the folks living near Lexington/Rifle Range Road, Forsyth: Are there Bambis roaming around the streets at night? I remember back in '07 when I lived off Hood, we had deer roaming the streets on garbage night; it was kind of funny. I had quite the scare the first night I moved in and had my pooch go potty in our back yard at ten at night: three deer standing beside me and all I saw was big silhouettes and beady eyes! I ordered a fence the next morning, lol. We always had five or so deer roaming in our backyard at night; it was especially pretty and tranquil when it snowed.

I saw a poor little fox was hit on the loop before McCormick Park a few weeks back. And I was really thrown when I saw a coyote pop out of the woods-in broad day light-just before Caisson Hill Road, the other day.

We used to see whole raccoon families on main post when we went skating at King Field House back in the day.

I'm quite found of the cardinals, blue jays, and woodpeckers that are all over post. The turkeys are a hoot, too. I've seen (rarely), really colorful chickens or prairie birds in the fields before.

What's the craziest thing you've ever seen?

A wild boar on the Washington Street walking trail.

Seriously? The babies are adorable; the adults, they are dangerous. Wow, I would have done a double take, for sure! c:

Yes this was an adult, I didn't hang around long.

This isn't really wildlife but like 15+ yrs ago my parents had cows in their front yard munching on the grass and laying around. This was in Indian Ridge...apparently a barb wire fence broke aways outs from there and the cows roamed their way over. Guess the grass is sometimes greener on the other side afterall!! lol

Another time at the same place my dad found a big old snake in the kitchen. The big kind that you see people have as pets, not a little garden snake which we sometimes saw around there.

We caught a possum on our porch. I also have those stupid little chipmunk things that eat my flowers. This place has got the biggest crows I've ever seen in my life haha.
I love driving around on post and seeing all the little critters.

When I lived in Enterprise we had a huge Albino squirrel who lived in a tree outside of our house. It was really tame and I could get him to eat out of my hand I always joked and said I wanted to capture one of the black squirrels that I have seen here on post and mate it with the albino squirrel and then we would have Holstein squirrels :o)

I hate possums...oh yuck. We have those chipmunks too and they eat my flowers and the regular squirrels dig everywhere.

One time back in the 80's I lived on 14th street in JC in this little trailer court. One afternoon I happened to look out of my window and caught a glimpse of a cow running through my yard. My first thought was wow that was a big a## dog!

The cows is hysterical! :)

I saw an eagle off South Scenic Drive over Christmas break; we've also seen them around Milford and Wakefield, which seems more normal. I've seen several owls out during the day on my drive to Riley (the city, not post), which was pretty neat. I can't believe how many hawks thrive in this region though. Some of them are quite porky; makes me keep a closer I on my Chihuahuas whilst outdoors. c:

I saw a bald eagle going towards post up grant! I was like wow! I havent seen one of those since i was kid in St. Johns AZ! I pointed it out to my toddler and he said he wanted to go home and 'look on net to hear the bawd eeglers.' LOL which translated means he wants to go look on the internet to hear what the bald eagle sounds like.

I've also seen a bunch of deer all over post but especially my warner peterson and those feeders they have out there by the schools on 1st divison. I've also seen a fox and had a squirrel literally BARK and chased my toddler and i while we were walking. Apparently we were way too close to his tree or nut stash... Geeze we ran away so fast! That thing was aggressive!

Bat out of Hell? No, a giant flippin' coyote just decided to dart out in front of my car on Williston Point; scaring the bejesus out of me and my kid. Oh, so close to being road kill. Glad I didn't hit it. I'm such an animal lover, I'd have lost my mind.

I know it's old, but someone saw a boar on-post? Aw man... I haven't ran track since high school, but I would have broken a record that day, lol.

So funny you mentioned that, Tee. My hairstylist was just telling me her fiance is going hunting for the first time-in Florida, for wild boar. I laughed and said good luck with that. c:
