Ok I'm here for your opinion. I know a small motorcycle group that all have something to do with the military.(Retired, active etc). They are now wanting to be more active in the community and helping with what they can. Since they are men they necessarily aren't going to have bake sales to make money, so I was hoping for some ideas. All proceeds they make will go toward the community...USO, toys for tots, etc

One idea I had was if anyone would be interested in donating aluminum cans that you were already going to throw away. If a lot of people wanted to do that then the group could pick a day a month to go pick up everywhere. Anyone that accumulates a lot we would even bring you a trash can you could put them in. What do you think? 

I LIKE IT! I think its a awesome idea,heres a thought.....start a riley yard sale account and sell donated items. be sure you let the donors know the items will be sold and proceeds go to ur charity 

There was a similar help group that was raising funds to help with different community functions and activities and dishonesty destroyed it. Some members found out that one of the volunteers was taking from the donations/fundraisers. It shook the trust of a lot of people who was donating items, time and energy for good causes. I wish you well but this happened fairly recently and once burned I tend to be wary because there seems to always be ONE who can ruin what many work and believe in. 

At hope...I totally understand! I was talking to my husband about the whole thing, because he wants to do more but no one knows where to start so I was thinking if a lot of people was interested in helping and it really started to look up that the group should start an account where it isn't just sitting around and everyone is knowing where the proceeds are going. I guess there is always bad in this world but I trust everyone in this group with my whole heart.

Once we start donating to different charities or organizations they will start posting on facebook and/or newspapers how much they earned and where it went to so if anyone was doubtful they could check themselves. 

If there are not many people interested then they will just keep donating themselves like they have done for a year but I just thought there were more people out there that might want to be included. :)
