The new policy.letter concerning motorcycles on post is a joke. singling out motorcyclists and making thier lives more difficult will not.make any of them quit riding no matter how hard you try. makeing us add more clothing durring these hot summers...genious... makeing motorcycles and not cars register on post...making us wear more bright shiny colors on not only ourselves but backpacks is accomplishing nothing. its not going to make cars pay ne more attention to us than a pt belt did in the past. example of idiocy a friend laid his bike out. he was not hurt and was wearing all required ppe yet the command took away his riding privledges even tho no law or regs were broken yet in my unit a female drove thru.her apartment and HIT A COP a wrek after dribing thru her first floor apartment and could still drive...make sense? registering vehicles on post isnt designed for keeping track of who rides motorcycles its to make so no restricted persons come on post like felons yet now its keeping track of motorcycles. Motorcycles r a form of transportation y r we restricted more than ne one theres more car accidents than motorcycles accidents...all reasons y this policy letter is a damn joke.
wow my head hurts from trying to read this ... someone needs to go back to spelling 101. If you don't like the rules, then dont ride on post. Plain and simple. Safety is safety. And as for the lady that "wrek" her car, I am sure she did not get off scott free
LMAO I thought the same thing. I am not against motorcycle drivers at all but I do think they need to obey the same rules of the road that we all do. Like for example don't try to squeeze in between my car and another car and make me slam on my brakes...and dont pass me on the shoulder because you feel like it.
O no i spelled words wrong...im typing on a phone my bad...in any case its.not all bikes that ride like that and if u dun ride a motorcycle neither of u can rly say ne thing cuz u dont know wat ur talking about...
The last time I checked this was an open forum so that does give us the right to comment, just because you don't like what we have to say doesn't mean we don't know what we are talking about.
I think they make the rules so strict because of the numb nuts that do ride around like idiots...so they have to punish the group and make it harder for others. Does it suck? yeah. Is it going to change? Probably not. So ride your bike safely and just deal or get a car.
My hubs rides his to work and it didn't affect him because he already wore the vest and not a pt belt. Yes there are more accidents in vehicles, however motorcycle accidents are usually more severe and even more fatal.
Don't most smart phones auto-correct spelling now?
The more clothes rule is probably a reaction to the idiots I've been seeing ride around in shorts, tank tops and flip flops. I guess they've never seen or had road rash. I used to ride a motorcycle and my dad made me wear a jacket, jeans, and boots every time. In the south, in the middle of summer. It's not that bad, you're getting constant fanning. They make jackets especially for summer that are heavy duty but won't hold in body heat. And long pants are necessary so you don't accidentally get burned by your bike when it's been running awhile. I got a nasty burn once because I was sitting on my bike in shorts, just helping my dad do some work on it. Never wore anything less than jeans after that.
And, technically, all vehicles that go on post need to be registered. It's just not enforced.
If rules like this weren't in place, there would be someone illegibly complaining about THAT on here. At least this way people are slightly safer. Motorcycles are dangerous, so either follow the rules or get a car. Don't come on here and whine about safety vests like a child.

Acctually no all vehicles dont have to register its an open post now the only vehicles that have to register are motorcycles i know this because i work the gates and the road and enforce vehicle laws on post n i understand the long pants and stuff its just the fact that over the last year they have tightened the regs on fort riley consistantly while army regs have relaxed to saying only riding appropriate gear none of the reflective crap just the ppe that matters.
I do believe there is a bias against motorcycle riders--but I also think it's exacerbated by riders who choose to showboat and drive recklessly. Drivers do need to look out for riders more, but many riders need to stop thinking that it's okay to speed and zip through traffic simply because they're on a motorcycle.
The chances of getting hurt on a motorcycle are higher than getting hurt inside a vehicle. If riders want to show they're serious about riding, they have to do their part to lower the accident statistics and drive safer.

Smart phones are only as smart as the person using them.
LMAO! And a387 how do you know if I ride or not? Just because I think safety is an awesome thing? That means neither me nor my husband ride? You are probably one of the reasons they changed the regs *SMH*
Well lemme know if theres ne real comments or just worthless bored army wives instead of ppl with actual opinions on the subjectÂ
That was unnecessary--not to mention false. There are soldiers here, as well as people who aren't married to soldiers. It is not all military spouses.
If you wanted a group of 'yesmen' who would simply bow down and agree with what you have to say, then you came to the wrong forum. Actually, I am curious why you came here if you really think the participants here are "worthless"; what does that say about you if you're seeking advice and comments from people you obviously dislike?
There is nothing wrong with disagreeing; you have a right to do so. But to be rude and show such a lack of civility because you disagree transcends personality issues and says a lot about your character. If you fly off the handle and get upset this easily on a message board, I'd be loathe to see how you behave behind the wheel of your beloved motorcycle. Have a nice day.
