DO NOT RENT FROM A COUPLE IN JC!!! THEY WILL ROB YOU!!! I NEEDED A ROOM TO RENT AND HAD BEEN PAYING WEEKLY FOR A HOTEL. I SAW AN AD ON RILEYYARDSALES.COM AND WENT TO CHECK OUT THE ROOM. THEY SEEMED LIKE A NICE YOUNG COUPLE SAYING THEY WOULD STAY OUT OF MY BUSINESS AND OUT OF MY THINGS. NOPE THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN. ANY GROCERIES I BOUGHT THEY ATE AND WOULD "APOLOGIZE" WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN BUT IT DID OVER AND OVER. THEY BOTH SMOKE IN THE HOME AND I'M NOT TALKIG.G CIGARETTES! THE COUPLE HAS NO VEHICLE SO THEY ARE GOING TO ASK YOU FOR A RIDE AND NOT PAY YOU GAS MONEY. THEY WILL GO IN YOUR ROOM STEAL CASH IF YOU HAVE IT IN YOUR ROOM. ALL THOSE ARE MINOR THE WORST PART IS I PAID UP FRONT FROM 7/15 UNTIL 8/15 A TOTAL OF $350 THAT WAS FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH!!! IN THE FIRST WEEK OF ME STAYING THERE ON THE DOOR WAS AN EVICTION NOTICE YES AN EVICTION NOTICE AFTER I HAD PAID ALL MY MONEY FOR THE MONTH THEN I ASKED AND SHE SAID IT WAS A MISTAKE. SO I IGNORED IT. LAST FRIDAY SHE ASKED IF I COULD PAY AHEAD AGAIN FOR THE MONTH IF 8/15-9/15 I SAID NO I'LL PAY ON THE 15TH BECAUSE I'M NOT PAYING AHEAD ANYMORE! LATER THAT DAY ANOTHER EVICTION NOTICE WAS PLACED ON THE DOOR, I ASKED ARE YOU GUYS GETTING EVICTED SHE SAID NO AND I CALLED TO FIND OUT AND THEY WERE!!! I STARTED LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO RENT AND GUESS WHAT I SEE ON CRAIGSLIST THE SAME ROOM FOR RENT!!!! YES MY ROOM I WAS PAYED UP UNTIL 8/15, THEY WERE FACING EVICTION AND TRYING TO RENT MY ROOM WITH ALL MY STUFF IN IT!!!! I CONFRONTED THEM AND FINALLY THEY SAID YES WE ARE GETTING EVICTED AND IT'S YOUR FAULT CUZ YOU WON'T PAY AHEAD! I WAS FURIOUS AND SAID SO YOUR GONNA RENT MY ROOM WITH MY STUFF!!! THEY SAID WE WERE GONNA TELL YOU! THEY ARE OVER 1200 IN THE WHOLE AND IT'S MY FAULT WHEN I JUST MOVED IN AND NOW OF COURSE MOVED OUT AHEAD OF TIME! BECAUSE I DON'T WANT MY STUFF OUT ON THE CURB WHEN I GET THERE FROM WORK ONE DAY!!! PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN LOOKING FOR A ROOM TO RENT DO NOT LET WHAT HAPPENED TO ME HAPPEN TO YOU!!!!!!

Me and my husband are looking for a roomate or a two love birds like us lolz but its just me and my husband no kids we are only 20 and 21. We stay in a two bedroom one bath. I have actually seen that post before and laughed after reading it. The grammar/spelling wasn't stellar. Is the husband in the Army? I wonder if I know who they are, because my husband came home telling me about a guy in his company getting evicted. They had terrible money problems and went to court last week or the week before for something. Gotta watch out, people are craaaaazy!

If they didn't lie and are really in the Army, I'd say that since you have his name it would not hurt to let him Chain of Command know. First, if he's smoking drugs he needs to get the heck out of the force. Next, the Army is giving him money to pay his rent every month so not paying is not an option. They may or may not help you get your money back, but at least they will find out why he hasn't paid and it will keep a dirtbag from scamming someone else. Blessings to you and I pray you find somewhere stable to lay your head at night.

I've taken the appropriate measures as with all things the Army and law enforcement don't always move fast enough. I just do not want them to scam anyone else so I was warning everyone! They really have no morals. His unit said he's being separated from the Army so that told me they aren't going to do anything about it. I think they are just ready to kick him out and don't want to delay the process! As far as their money i'd like to know too because where did the money I paid for rent go??? I'm glad I'm out of there I will definitely not sublease from anyone ever again!

Their names are Ashley and Demetrious Foster. That 916-667 number on the posting is her actual number. Like I said just Beware of them. He is in First Engineers at Ft Riley. His unit knows him very well he's the "bad Apple" Good Old Private Foster as his unit reffered to him.

One more thing (lol): we live in a different world now than we lived in just 15 years ago. Whether you're renting a room or a home, you should check to see if either the apartment owner is facing eviction, or if the homeowner is facing foreclosure. In most states, foreclosure motions are public documents so you can get that information yourself.

As far as renting a room from an apartment--you're already doing that at your own risk because very few apartments will allow subleting; if the apartment manager finds out they can legally kick you out.

If you go to an apartment manager in advance and ask if your potential sublet leasers are current on their rent, the apartment manager will probably tell you straightaway they aren't allowed to sublet; so if you have any doubt whether the room you're renting is legitimate, draw up something before you hand over your money that states they certify that they are current on their rent and in no danger of eviction--or the agreement will be forfeited immediately with no obligation to legally honor the length of the lease, and that you will not pay rent and be given 30 days to find somewhere else to live. It will cover you.

The reason I just thought of this is that we're buying another home, and after doing a lot of research I found that there are people out there selling and leasing homes they don't even own. About 3 months ago, a couple in Florida just got 3 years in jail for breaking in these high-end condos in Miami, changing the locks, getting the window they used to break in fixed, and then renting them out for big money--some for $4000 a month! Imagine living comfortably for that much money and then having the police knock on your door to let you know you're in a stolen property. Some people are just inherent dirtbags.
