My family has lived off base the past 4 yrs and we are finally making the move on post. According to the floor plans online i like Ellis Heights layout better but the hubby likes Forsyth and says they are really nice inside. Please help, any thoughts? We have 2 boys so it would be the 3 bdrm layout.

I lived in Forsyth in the 4 bedroom house and loved it. There was plenty of room and extra storage than you new what to do with. I never had a problem with it and loved that it had wall to wall carpet. To me they seemed bigger than Ellis

Plus the downstairs bathroom is the tornado room which has the steal door

Forsyth, houses are newer, tornado room, walk to brand new school, close to PX and Commy, nicer community center with pool,

I've lived in Forsyth in a one level house for 3 years now. The only thing that was a tad annoying was you can only put your fence out 50 feet. The one level lucks out because hour house is wider but the two level homes back yard is honestly the size of the livingroom. Good if you have a fenced in yard for kids or a small dog but not good if you have big dogs. The people behind me had a german shepard, a weimeriner, and a weiner dog and they could hardly go out in the yard and do anything.

I live on Pommel St, in front of the community center, and my kids still go to Ware up on the hill so they get to ride the bus.

I previously lived in Eliis and now in Forsyth. I would have loved to have stayed in Ellis, but our house had some structural issues and we moved down here. I think Ellis had more storage than Forsyth (under stairs, garage, laundry room, utility room, closets) the streets were wider, the back patio is covered, mature landscaping and trees, stairs that were straight and without a corner, opening patio door rather than sliding, a larger pantry (unless you get a handi house in Forsyth), a larger laundry room(but you have to trek downstairs, Forsyth it is upstairs) more cabinet space in the bathroom (Ellis has cabinets for the vanity, medicine cabinet, and cabinet above the potty), ceiling fans in each bedroom (Forsyth only has one in the master), gas stove and range (Forsyth has a glass top electric), the living room in Ellis is difficult to put a sectional in, but no problem in Forsyth, Ellis has a steel bathtub and Forsyth has a typical fiberglass one (I prefer steel because I like my water to stay hot and it is easier to clean), if you have a German shrunk or more than a few bookshelves side by side they will not fit in Ellis unless you are in the middle, but it works in Forsyth becausse there are a few long walls without windows., the bedroom windows are lower in Forsyth and it is nerve wracking if you have toddlers because they can easily fall out the screens if they are open (bedroom windows in Ellis are much higher) FOrsyth has garage openers and Ellis is manual. They have the same carpet, the same linoleum, the same fridge, same blinds, and most of the same fixtures. hope this helps.

No glass top stove for us in forsyth is just electric coils.

DollLikeDeceptions --- 12 years ago -

where do you live in Forsyth? I thought the glass top was standard in all forsyth homes?

Brianna --- 12 years ago -

GV....you are right, I have a friend in a handi house on raven and she has electric coils too.

It is probably a tweak to different neighborhoods of Forsyth......kind of like some people have tall dark cabinets (myself) and others have typical height blonde cabinets.

Garbage Vulture --- 12 years ago -

Im on Arcadia, carpet upstairs only, dark cabinets. We love our house

DollLikeDeceptions --- 12 years ago -

Im on Pommel in an ADA home, short light cabinets, carpet, glass top stove

DD2008 --- 12 years ago -

We live in Forsyth also and love it. Its has lots of room & storage. Our house has the light wood cabinets, carpet down & up stairs, and the stove is a glass top. We're on mariposa.

U guys r awesome!! This really helps. Do they let you tour a home before you choose? Or is it just pick and hope for the best?

DollLikeDeceptions --- 12 years ago -

I don't know if the neighborhoods have model homes or not. I know in the other neighborhoods that don't have community centers the office is in an actual home.
Another thing I wanted to give you to consider is the drive time. My husband HATES the traffic up and down the hill, it's a little crazy. He leaves for PT in the morning and doesn't come home till the end of the day. With all the traffic by the time he gets down the hill after PT he has to almost turn right around and go back to work. He doesn't even bother to try to come down the hill at lunch either.

Ellis heights has a regular community center on Lee Street with a swimming pool

DD2008 --- 12 years ago -

There was a model home for Forsyth plus you'll get to walk through the home they have ready for you before you sign anything. You can say no on the house but you only can 2 times I think.

My hubby has no problem with the traffic. He comes home after pt and for lunch most days and has time to eat and change.

toriT --- 12 years ago -

My husband doesn't try to come over after PT, but I sometimes see him for lunch. He is not good in traffic.
I wasn't offered a walk through of the home before signing anything. I signed all the papers at the Neighborhood Office and then was given the keys. The only paper that I had left to turn in was the self-check list for damages already in the home.

We were here 30 days prior to our PCS from Leonard Wood and they told us our house number. We wanted to drive by and the workers were here building the house, so we got to see it.

DollLikeDeceptions --- 12 years ago -

That's what we did. We got the address before it was built and would check on it, came by one Sunday and the door was unlocked so we totally went in and took pics lol

We turned down two homes when we got here. Finally we took third. Two weeks later they called us and told is we couldnt be over here and we had to move. I wasnt moving again and we have been here since 2010.
Now i am ready for another move to come. But this one will be my final. And i honestly cant wait to have a home that is,all mine...yeahhhh

Why'd they tell you that? That's odd...

tmmundy2 --- 12 years ago -

Because it was rank. I didnt talk to them they talked to my husband.
