What kind of information you looking for? Instead of writing a few pages...Narrow it down. I can tell you just about anything. I have been here 4 years. 

my favorite thing about this post will be seeing it in our rear view mirror as we leave next month.
Some like, some hate it. We have been here 4 years and hate it. Our unit is the worse i have ever seen, and my husband has been in 15 years.
I do like Kansas though, just not the way this post is ran. 

We didnt mind ft riley. We want to come back. My husbands unit wasn't the best there for the 1st 3-4 yrs but it started getting better with better commander and 1st sgts. My husbands unit here in germany is way worse he. Our unit was at riley when we 1st for to riley when they were horrible.there is a guy here in our unit that was in ft Riley's unit with us. Before my husband had a chance to get to he unit he told us this unit compared nothing to the one in ft riley way worse lol. My husband hates it here. People are like if you the or so much why did you ask to come to germany? We didn't it just happened that we came down on orders! The are are shocked they are like really? Yes really!! We were trying to hide out in ft riley but they finally caught up with us we were at ikea for 5 yrs. My husband says germany has nothing to offer him besides gets to tour and see history. Ft riley he could so what e loves fishing, hunting, hopping in the car in the winter to go to Colorado (7 hrs denver)to go skiing, Joplin the car I go home to Iowa. (7 hrs to northern iowa but we did have some family closer that was only 5 hrs) we went from a 1400 square duplex just outside the gate at riley to a appartment. idk what the square foot is here but its no where near what we lived in. its like any duty station its what you make of it. 

Fort Riley is not the worst, but I dont really like it. I am used to big cities...the conveniences. Here is a hole in the wall with stuff about an hour out. Topeka is an hour, Salina is an hour, and Kansas City is about 2-3 hours...depending on how fast you drive...lol. The schools are nice. We have had our first child in Morris Hill...nice school, Jefferson...Like it too. Next year she will attend Ware....Seems decent. Lots of docs on post...I prefer my kids off post. We lived in Peterson for 3 years...It was okay. I liked the neighborhood minus the crazies...lol. Now we live in McClellan (the new ones) and they are awesome(with some quirks)...lol. We like the sense of community we feel here. We have been to posts where we did not make a single friend for 3 years...this post we have a few close friends.
Manhattan is close and the have KSU if you are going to college. You can also take free college courses on post during the day.
Lots of fishing, hunting, hiking, and fun to be had here.

Hi well it cant be worse than Fort Leonard wood,mo .lol!!could it?Im interested in housing is there a waiting list and is it nice ?How close is the nearest town which has a mall in eating places?If any one is Catholic is there a churches close by in groups. We are more of city people not out doors.lol!In yes i was wondering about the hospital on post when it comes to having a baby?thank you all who has reply in telling me some information. 

Junction city is closest but manhattan has a small mall and better restraunts. Mall has jcp Dillard's and sears for department stores. Your smaller stores are American eagle, Aeropostale, vanity, buckle, childrens place, justice, crazy 8, bath and body works, some jewelry stores and some shoe stores. If yu want a bigger mall you have to drive to salina or Topeka and if you want kohls you have no go to salina or Topeka also. Hospital my experiance was 6 yrs ago only issue I had was my IV fell out which shouldn't have happens because my husband kept telling them it was going to fall out and they didn't listen. Other than that is was fine I have also head bad stories too but everyone's experiance is different. 

Church on the hill does Catholic Services, and St. Xaviers out in JC is also Catholic. If you look up Picerne Military Housing it will show wait list times. I hear the Obstetrics is pretty good here...I dont know for sure because I havent had a kid for about 5 years...lol. Mall in Manhattan is small, but nice. Mall in Topeka is better. I have been to Leonard Wood to visit...This is better than there...lol. Manhattan is about 20 minutes out.
