Starting July 8 thru September the Commissary will be closed on Mondays for Furloughs.

Oh man. Hope this doesn't last long.

Years ago it was always closed on Mondays. Over seas it's normal to be closed one day a week. It's really not that big of a deal. I would rather it close one day a week and save money over closing a slower Commissary and having people loose a job.

Yup when we arrived at Riley in 07 they use to be closed on Mondays. We are stationed in Germany and ours is already closed on Mondays due to restock day. But because of the furloughs ours will be closed on Tuesdays now too. I'd rather it be closed 1 day than 2 especially back to back days like ours is.

I don't like things that are closed one day a week because then I have to remember that I cannot go there that day. Its already annoying that things close early on Sundays... Where I grew up and lived for 25 years, things were open everyday and for good hours, and many things were open 24 hours. So no matter my work schedule I was always able to get done whatever I needed done. As far as the commy losing some people... no biggy, they could learn how to work more efficiently.

Tell me why I was in there one day and the line went to the butter and there were 3 registers open. After 15 minutes of standing inline they started to open additional registers, and after 40 minutes I was finally at a register. I want to know why my forgetful butt can remember that everyone likes to go on certain days and times, but they cannot.

I don't mean to sound rude but you may take me the wrong way. You have other options being stationed in the states. You have stores that are still running 24hrs a day. If we work late here In Germany than we miss all the store both commi and off post because eveything closes by 8 including the shoppett. It can be frustrating trying to remember.

I don't want other options... I like the commy.

In Korea it was closed on Mondays and we didn't have any other shops near the base. If you forgot to get it or you worked late it was tuff cookies. You get used to it after a while. I agree that having it closed for two days in a row would be bothersome when you are over seas and have no other option.

Could be worse there is a small base kinda tied in with our base in Germany. (30 minutes from us) they were already closed sundays and wednesdays. they are now closed Mondays too. try 3 days a week Being closed 2 days in a row don't really effect me as I always go Saturdays due to only 1 car. But I would love to go shopping once a pay or once a month. But here we kinda have to shop once a week due to things expireing with in a week of buying them. And not to mention the hassle of living on the 3rd floor carrying groceries up all those steps. Point being we all can't be happy and satisfied but we deal with it. It took some time getting use to things being closed here in Germany by 8 both on and off base. Not to mention nothing is open on the economy on Sunday. Just put a reminder in your phone or something so you will remember.

I went to the Commissary yesterday just to use the ATM out front(No line and its one of the few that take my paypal card) I must have watched 12 people park in the empty parking lot, walk past the sign that said Closed on Mondays and try the door. Some of them even checked their watch(phone) to see what time it was.

Just a tip to help you shop less often - most things that have expiration dates can be frozen to make them last longer. We freeze milk, bread, eggs, meats, fruits, veggies, even sweets. It's the only way I can get away with only shopping once or twice a month.
