We moved to Riley in the spring and seem to be having some trouble with mail delivery. The first incident was when we received the bill for our newly installed fence 3 weeks AFTER it was postmarked.(Fence company is only in Manhattan.)

The second and third incidents have been mail we've sent out that seems to be lost. One of those was a personal letter, one was a check to the aforementioned fence company. They showed up on our doorstep today (weird, but ok) and I reissued a check, as the previous one had indeed not been cashed per my bank.

Since this is the third problem we've had in 4 months, I'm starting to wonder if anybody else has had problems with USPS around here.

I've never had issues before, and I'm wondering if I should start dropping my mail off at a dropbox instead of having our mail carrier pick it up at the box. I don't want people showing up at my house randomly because our check never made it to its destination. 

We had to speak to a gentleman at the far back office of the post building to rectify problems we were having with mail service; I'd advice you to do the same. 

Two minutes later, look what I just happen to see front and center on WIBW news feed...

Mail theft on the rise 

Hehe, no, no issues here. My only issue is that you never know what time the mail will come. Lately its been by noon but it used to be after 5pm. 

Not saying someone isn't messing with yours, but I have heard of many people having issues with the fence rental companies. 

My mailman is a saint, but his timing is definitely sporadic. The only mail I know of that has been lost since we got here is the Christmas card I sent to the hubs when he was in Afghanistan last year, but I don't doubt that it wasn't my mailman who lost it. 

I sent out a Thanksgiving Card in 2012 to Afghanistan; received it "Return to Sender" a few months ago. 

Our Army Times was always a week late. We called Army Times to complain and they told us it was shipped out early but it was still always a week late. 

Is this Tri City we are talking about? We have had fence with them for 11 years and never missed a statement, recently I haven't recieved one the past 2 months.

a2798986uu, no it was not Tri City. We have One Accord. I have to say I was a little creeped out by him showing up at my house on a Friday evening. I asked him to please call me if there are problems in the future, to which he asked me if my phone was disconnected. I replied no, it's the same number you've had from day one. The whole thing was kind of weird. I guess they are used to dealing with people who don't pay their bills or something, because the whole visit had sort of an accusatory tone. All they had to do was call and it could have been avoided, but I guess I understand where they're coming from if they get stiffed a lot. I think they'd save themselves a whole lot of trouble if they just allowed folks to pay online. It's the only bill I still pay with a check thru the mail, and hence the only bill I've had issues with.

I love Riley, but I won't miss the whole fence rental situation when we leave. I kind of wish we had just put one up ourselves. 

Yes, people totally don't pay their bills around here :)

I enjoy owning my fence. 

One of the fence companies BigBadWolfed the lady across the street from me for 20 minutes before realizing he had the wrong side of the house. The poor lady doesn't even HAVE a fence. Whenever we decide to get a fence we will definitely be building our own.
